No, thankfully ND Online Gaming is not impacted by the recent NDIS price guide changes and reforms because ND Online Gaming doesn't bill as a 'therapy’. Nor does ND Online Gaming claim to be ‘therapy’, despite the evidenced and frequently significant benefits that ND Online Gaming has been able to support participants to achieve. Our approach aligns with the participants NDIS goals of promoting social inclusion, skill development and community engagement. ND Online Gaming bills participants under 'group activities' or 'community participation/engagement' and therefore there are NO changes to participants being able to use our services and have this funded by the NDIS safely and ethically.
All ages!! ..... well 6 years old to 86 years old.
When we receive a booking form, we are looking at ages, game preference and location. All groups created for sessions will be of similar aged gamers, who are interested in the same game/s.
There are several line items / categories that could potentially be used, so this will depend on the individuals' goals and plan. ND Online Gaming is not a Registered Provider, so funding will need to be Plan Managed or Self Managed.
ND affirming, short for neurodiversity affirming, is an approach that values and respects the natural diversity of human brains and thinking styles, particularly when it comes to neurodivergent individuals. This includes people who are autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, or have other cognitive variations. The ND affirming approach emphasizes acceptance and validation rather than trying to change or "fix" neurodivergent traits to fit into societal norms.
ND Online Gaming aligns with ND affirming values to create an inclusive, supportive environment where neurodivergent individuals can thrive. By providing a space where participants are accepted for who they are, it fosters trust, safety, and a sense of community. Gaming becomes a medium for developing social skills, building friendships, and promoting well-being in a way that feels natural and comfortable for ND individuals.
Operating this way ensures that participants can engage fully without the pressure to "fit in" with neurotypical expectations, making the sessions more meaningful and beneficial for them.
A provider of group-based supports can enter into an agreement with a participant for a “Program of Support”, especially where the program is towards the achievement of a specified outcome.
As a Program of Support, the participant is responsible for payment of booked sessions regardless of attendance. Sessions are not pre-paid. Cancellation requires 2 weeks notice and will cancel the entire program of support. If a scheduled session is cancelled by the provider, the participant will not be charged.
ND Online Gaming's Service Agreements contain a Program of Support. Each Program of Support is for a maximum of 12 x weekly sessions (each session is 2 hours). Sessions will run through the school term (10 weeks) plus the school holidays (2 weeks). If you do not wish to attend through the school holidays, you can give notice 2 weeks prior to the holiday starting, to cancel your Service Agreement / Program of Support. If you're joining a group mid term, the program of support will be for the remainder of that period. Being a Program of Supports, participants are charged regardless of attendance at rate(s) stipulated above. Pursuant to NDIS price guide rules, short term cancellation rules do not apply in Program of Supports arrangements such as this. ND Online Gaming is all about creating a safe space to build social connections, building on / developing various skills. Cancellations change group dynamics and are best kept to an absolute minimum.
You will need a gaming device (that might be a PC, Xbox, iPad, PS4 etc.) and a headset with a mic.
All session / in game communication (voice chat & text) will be via Discord (private channel, available to session members only and is managed by the session facilitator). Please make sure you have this installed prior to any sessions (you will be given more information about this when signing up).
Sessions will range from 1:3 to 1:5. Meaning there will be one of our session facilitators with 3, 4 or 5 other members/gamers.
Everyone will be enrolled at a 1:3 ratio. As session/group numbers increase and group dynamics are observed, this may be changed to a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio, if the game chosen allows for this. If your group is changed to a higher number of members, this will REDUCE the amount you pay per session and you will be invoiced accordingly.
